Midtown at the Sallis Benney Theatre, Brighton

Notable for a few reasons, firstly minor local celebrities The Ordinary Boys opened up and played twenty minutes of blitstering straight up kid dynamite-style fast punk, yep no ska, bizarrely they later became a benchmark for chav indie producing some of the worst records in recent history. Secondly New Jersey heart throb and Midtown front man Gabe Saporta threw a hissy fit at the guitarist during "Frayed Ends" which soured the whole evening. Sam Preston later confided in me that Midtown's dressing room was entirely filled with sweets. A few weeks later we returned to the same venue to watch Jets Vs Sharks and The International Noise Conspiracy tear the school hall type venue apart.

long lost 'sugar-metal' outfit Anaheim from the Isle of Wight

A trip to Brightstone holiday camp on the Isle of Wight with a super VHS camera I had procured from Portsmouth University led to an afternoon of Carry On style hilarity. The lads played an audition in the games room and nearly deafened a local man. Plenty of candid shots in the swimming pool and goofing around with swing-ball followed up with an outdoor "shoot" of the boys miming to their song 'Epoch'. I later joined the band on second guitar and promptly killed them off, here they are in their hey day as a three piece.
